In a Canadian business district, sunray successfully created a year-round sunroom outdoor restaurant that perfectly solves the problem of seasonal business restrictions. The project is located in the outdoor area next to the commercial building, which was originally an open-air dining area, and the owner wanted to transform it into an enclosed dining space that is both airy and comfortable, in order to enhance the customer experience and extend the business hours.
To meet the special needs of the commercial operation, our design solution focused on structural safety and climate adaptability. A high-strength aluminum alloy frame with tempered laminated glass ensures that the building is not only stable, but also able to withstand high traffic volumes. Considering Canada’s harsh winter climate and strong sunshine in summer, we used insulated Low-E glass with adjustable shading system, and the design of the top openable skylight and side windows ensures good natural ventilation.
In terms of space planning, the 270° panoramic view design allows customers to enjoy the outdoor landscape without being affected by the weather. The open layout ensures a comfortable dining environment throughout the year. When operating at night, the carefully designed ambient lighting system creates different dining moods, from romantic dinners to energetic parties.
Since its opening, the sunroom restaurant has become a popular destination in the area, with customers particularly enjoying the unique “indoor-outdoor” experience. The owner is most pleased that the space truly operates year-round, even in the cold and rainy winter months, significantly increasing traffic and turnover. The quick installation of the modular prefabricated structure also minimized disruption to the business, with construction and opening taking only a short time.
