Sunray’s modern sunroom project in the outskirts of Slovakia is the perfect solution to the technical challenge of all-season use in a temperate climate zone. Located in a typical Central European residential area, the project faces the climatic challenge of annual temperature differences of up to 50°C, with winter lows of -15°C and heavy snowfall, and summer maximum temperatures of up to 35°C. The project is located in a typical Central European residential area.

customer expectation:

Creating a multi-functional leisure space that can be used all year round, with effective thermal insulation, adapting to temperature differences from -15℃ to 35℃, maintaining natural lighting while ensuring privacy, modern minimalist design style

In response to the owner’s desire to create a multi-purpose space that could be utilized throughout the year, we developed an innovative “Four Seasons Sunroom System”. The project required an extension to the original garden terrace to accommodate family gatherings while maintaining a modern, minimalist aesthetic and keeping maintenance costs under control.

Design solution:

  1. Climate adaptive system: three-layer hollow Low-E glass is used to ensure warmth in winter and coolness in summer; intelligent ventilation skylight automatically adjusts the indoor microclimate.
  2. Enhanced structural design: 65 series thermally broken aluminum alloy frame can withstand 1.5kN/m² snow load; hidden drainage system solves the problem of water accumulation in rainy and snowy weather.
  3. Multi-functional configuration: motorized sunshade system provides flexible light control, 90-degree opening folding glass door realizes seamless indoor-outdoor connection, and integrated LED lighting meets the needs of nighttime use.

Project results:

This sunroom has become a winning center for customers, with a new 30㎡ multifunctional use area in space value, outstanding energy saving effect, 45% reduction in energy consumption during the heating season, and improved comfort throughout the year. Its modular design has been successfully applied in several projects in Central Europe, providing an ideal solution for building expansion in temperate climates.
